Staff Wellness and Resiliency Fund
Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital nurses, doctors and clinicians give their all, every day, to heal patients and comfort families. They never lose sight of the Caring Tradition.
Through philanthropy, our community gives back to these healthcare heroes, making possible programs that help our frontline teams restore their bodies, minds, and spirits.
Funding priorities for the Staff Wellness and Resiliency Fund include:
• An easily accessible program of free events, chair massages and therapeutic services
• Mindfulness and yoga classes
• Early morning nature walks on the hospital’s beautiful campus
• Virtual support groups
• Special retreat spaces within the hospital, such as private break rooms and a rooftop serenity garden, where staff can rest and recharge.
The Staff Wellness and Resiliency Fund provides a margin of excellence unmatched within the Sentara system and even unique nationwide among large and small hospitals alike. It acknowledges the physical and emotional challenges inherent in caregiving—during a pandemic and always—and wraps our caregivers in love and gratitude, so that they can continue to provide the warmth and clinical excellence that define the Caring Tradition.
