Support the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund

The Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund helps ensure that Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital has dedicated funds to meet the sudden and rapidly evolving healthcare needs of our community, now and in the future.

Your gift will help us:

  • Provide emotional support programs and services for our nurses and clinical teams, such as counseling and group meetings for our nurses and clinical teams to help manage stress, and a partnership with the Local Food Hub to provide 100 bags of fresh, locally grown produce weekly.
  • Support for patients and their familes, including Palliative Care services for seriously ill patients or families facing end of life decisions, and the purchase of iPads to facilitate communication between patients in isolation and loved ones from afar.
  • Protect at-risk communities in our region by providing free COVID-19 testing, cleaning supplies, and masks to people living in high risk areas, as well as wrap-around services like medicine, food and healthcare services for those who may test positive an be sent home to quarantine.

Please consider adding your support with a gift to the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation's Emergency Response Fund.  As always, 100% of your gift will directly support programs that benefit our local community.

Supply Donations

Like all hospitals and medical facilities, one of Sentara Martha Jefferson's highest priorities is securing, protecting, and conserving our supply of personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks, face shields and gloves.  We are accepting donations of these materials.  More information about donating supplies can be found here, and you can also contact us at 434-654-5033.

In addition, we are accepting donations of homemade masks. While we require the use of FDA approved masks for all staff, we recognize there are nationwide shortages and we want to provide masks to all outpatient visitors. We are especially in need of providing homemade masks to those undergoing treatment at the Philips Cancer Center. These patients are recurring visitors, and by providing them with a homemade mask, it is theirs to keep and reuse, protecting them and conserving disposable masks.

For information on how to construct a homemade mask, please see this article from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
You may drop mask donations off at the outside desk located at the main hospital entrance, 500 Martha Jefferson Drive. If you have questions, please contact Sharon Bishop in the Foundation office at 434-654-8258 or
