Employee giving helps continue the caring tradition

The heart and soul of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital’s Caring Tradition has always been the dedicated caregivers—doctors, nurses, clinicians, and administrators—who give their all, every day, to heal patients and comfort families. They never lose sight of the aspiration that has guided this institution since our founding in 1903: may we be a blessing to our community.

Thankfully, that same spirit of caring connects our hospital staff to one another as well. We see it reflected in programs like Intentional Caring, which brings a hospital-wide focus on self-care as a central facet of resiliency.  We see it in nurse leaders who make time for their teams to rest their bodies and minds, and in colleagues who recognize that small acts of kindness make big ripples in the lives of their teammates.

Thanks to generous philanthropic support from our community, we are forging a new standard nationwide for investments in staff wellness and resiliency, from massages to mindful movement to nursing scholarships and educational opportunities. We are grateful to our staff for the many ways you embrace these programs as tools to deepen our commitment to a culture defined by clinical excellence and warm, compassionate care.

For colleagues who wish to make a contribution to help us continue and expand these efforts, two options are available. You may make a gift online or complete a form to contribute through payroll deduction for gifts of $100 or more. For ease of giving, the amount deducted from each paycheck will be evenly distributed across the remaining pay periods within the current calendar year.

Gifts of any amount are truly welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for all you do!
