In the Pink Tennis Tournament
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, In The Pink took place on Saturday, October 17th. This year's tournament was a one-day only event hosted by Farmington, Boar's Head, Keswick Hall and Glenmore. Juniors In Pink (ages 10-18; boys and girls) was also offered at Boar's Head. Each facility took special precautions to protect players and avoid the spread of COVID-19 by creating safe social distancing measures, including only using outdoor courts, strictly following Centers for Disease Control and state public health guidelines, and limiting play to club members only. The Women's Committee hosts this tournament to raise funds to support Marianne's Room, which provides free wigs and scarves to cancer patients in our community, and other patient services offered through the Phillips Cancer Center at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Special thanks to all of the players and sponsors for making this year's event such a great success for women in our community!

Marianne's Room
Marianne's Room was established in 2002 as a resource center for women diagnosed with cancer. The special room, named in memory of Marianne Zirkle who succumbed to cancer in 1998, provides wigs, scarves, special "Chemo Caps", soft post-operative prosthesis requested by mastectomy patients and other services and support to assist women through their cancer treatment at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Palliative Care
Palliative Care aims to relieve suffering and improve quality of life for patients with advanced illness and for their families. Palliative Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team and offered in conjunction with all other appropriate forms of medical treatment, especially to support pain and symptom management.
Caring Embrace
Caring Embrace involves community members, Martha Jefferson employees, friends and volunteers who gather together weekly in the hospital lobby to knit or crochet shawls for people in need to caring, compassion and comfort. These shawls symbolize the caring embrace and Caring Tradition of the Martha Jefferson family. Proceeds from ITP funds the yarn and knitting materials.
