Cancer Care

Cancer is undoubtedly a frightening term. But you don't have to feel alone when you are going through your diagnosis and treatment. Martha Jefferson is with you every step of the way.

Through philanthropy, our community is helping to provide the latest technologies and treatments to support a superior team of physicians, technicians, nurses and more. In addition, those gifts  make support services like the Cancer Resource Center, support groups, the Breast Health Center with testing and counseling, survivorship services and more readily available.  Learn more about Sentara Martha Jefferson Cancer Care.

Our funding priorities include:

High Risk Breast Cancer Program - An estimated 1,000 women are identified each year at Sentara Martha Jefferson as high-risk for developing breast cancer.  As an integral component of our nationally accredited Comprehensive Breast Care Center, we have established a High-Risk Breast Cancer Program to serve the needs of these patients.

Philanthropic Need:

      • $270,000 in annual program support
      • $2 million endowment

Cancer Survivorship Program - With improved detection, advanced therapies and an aging population, survivorship has become a distinct new phase of cancer care that follows the completion of active treatment.  Through our comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Program, Sentara Martha Jefferson seeks to address the needs of cancer survivors throughout their lives.

Philanthropic Need:

      • $220,000 in annual program support
      • $2 million endowment
