The Holden Family

Centennial Partners

Chris Holden knows good healthcare. Growing up, he accompanied his physician father on patient visits. He interned in hospitals during high school and college. Later, he worked for a marketing and advertising agency with hospital clients.

With the birth of their three daughters, Chris and his wife, Meg, gained personal experience as healthcare consumers—first at another hospital, and then at Martha Jefferson. And when one of their girls needed emergency care, they naturally turned to Martha Jefferson Hospital.

"I was absolutely struck by our experience at Martha Jefferson Hospital," Chris says. "It was the first time I've ever seen a hospital achieve what I believe to be the 'holy grail' for what medical care should be: The perfect balance between up-to-the-minute capabilities and old-fashioned high-touch 'care-about-you-as-a-person' attitude."

As Centennial Partners, Meg and Chris Holden made a gift to support Martha Jefferson in its next hundred years—one that they hope will inspire others to contribute. "We cannot enjoy this type of healthcare unless we as a community step up and give our committed support," says Chris, who recently joined the Board of Directors of the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation.
